Questions About Our Pillows

What pillow should I choose for my child?

To avoid causing a bad position of the neck and spine, it is recommended to avoid pillows that are too thick. Instead, choose flat wool pillows for children, as we offer among our models. We have the 40x60 cm size, which is ideal for children, as well as the 50x70cm size.  It is easy to adjust the thickness by taking out some wool.

Why are pillows so important for a good night's sleep?

To have a healthy and restful night, it is important that the muscles in your neck and shoulders are relaxed and relaxed during your sleep.

What size pillow should an adult choose?

In order to sleep comfortably, it is essential to have a good pillow that is adapted to your body shape. All Zizzz pillows are square or rectangular in size.

The standard size for an adult square pillow is 60x60 cm. A square pillow is ideal for still sleepers or those who enjoy reading in bed, but it should be avoided if you move a lot during your sleep. Your head may be placed too high and this can cause back pain over time.

The rectangular pillow is suitable for the majority of sleepers, whether you sleep on your back, stomach, or side. Even if you move a lot during your sleep, the width of the pillow will ensure that you are always on top of it. Additionally, it takes up less space than the square pillow, and you won't have to fold it or push it down under your neck. We offer several sizes of rectangular pillows at Zizzz: 40x60cm, 60x90cm, 50x70cm, and 65x100cm.

In German-speaking Switzerland, the standard size is 50x70cm, 65x100cm, and 65x65cm. In French-speaking Switzerland, it is 50x70cm, 60x90cm, and 60x60cm. In Ticino, it is 50x70cm and 50x90cm. We recommend that you choose a pillow size corresponding to your geographical area, as it will be easier for you to find the corresponding pillowcase size in stores. We also offer pillowcases.

In addition to these criteria, consider the dimensions of your bed so that your bedding set is harmonious.

I'm hesitating between a Zizzz wool pillow and a feather pillow... What are the main differences?

The Zizzz wool pillow is naturally hypoallergenic, so we recommend this model if you suffer from various allergies or have respiratory difficulties. In addition, our wool pillow is adjustable, meaning you can open it to add or remove wool balls and mold it to your liking.

Compared to wool, the Zizzz feather pillow is more plush and lightweight but less breathable. It is certified anti-mite. Among its other qualities, it regains its shape more easily after a few taps. Made of 90% down and 10% feathers, this hybrid model will be perfect if you are looking for an ultra-soft pil

Which pillow is suitable for side sleepers?

Since the hollow space between the mattress and the neck is the highest for side sleepers, the pillow height should be adjusted to the shoulder width of the sleeper. For side sleepers, a rather narrow pillow, such as with the size of 40x60 cm, is often best. In order for the cervical spine to be in a straight line, the pillow should be placed under the head and neck, not under the shoulders.

What points to consider when buying a new pillow? What should you know before buying a new pillow?

Comfort, durability and eco-friendliness.

How do I choose the right size of pillow for my bed?

1. Single bed (90x200 cm): A standard pillow size of 50x70 cm is recommended.
2. Double bed (140x200 cm): Two standard pillows (50x70 cm) or two square pillows (65x65cm) are recommended.
3. Queen bed (160x200 cm): Two square pillows (65x65 cm) or two king pillows (50x90 cm) are recommended.
4. King bed (180x200 cm): Two king pillows (50x90 cm) or two euro square pillows (80x80 cm) are recommended.

What are down pillows?

Down pillows are filled with the soft and fluffy clusters which are found under the feathers of geese or ducks. Down pillows offer a luxurious feel and are known for being exceptionally soft and fluffy.

How often do you recommend changing your Zizzz pillow?

Ideally, we recommend changing your pillow every 3 years.

To extend their lifespan, it is important to take good care of them. The Swiss Bedding Manufacturers Association (VSB) recommends regularly airing out your room and vigorously shaking your pillows to evenly distribute their filling. In addition, they recommend washing your pillows at least once a year using a special program

What is the difference between goose and duck down pillows?

The main difference between goose and duck down pillows is the size of the down clusters. Goose down clusters are typically larger than those of duck down, which means that they provide better loft and insulation. For this reason, goose down pillows are generally considered to be of superior quality to duck down pillows. That said, the choice between goose and duck down pillows ultimately depends on your own preference and needs. For example, if you're after a pillow that offers maximum support and loft, a goose down pillow is probably right for you.
If, on the other hand, you prefer a softer and lighter pillow, then a duck down pillow may be a better fit. It's also worth noting that some people may be allergic to down, regardless of whether it comes from geese or ducks. If you are allergic or sensitive to down, you may want to consider alternative options, such as wool.

Which pillow is suitable for stomach sleepers?

It is often reported that the prone position is not one of the best sleeping positions, because in this position the neck is overstretched too much. The elevation causes the neck vertebrae to twist and the spine to bend. If you still can't do without the prone position, you should then sleep without a pillow at night, because this position can lead to a hollow back in the worst case.
For stomach sleepers who cannot do without a pillow, there are special pillows that have a hollow in the middle area. Since the head cannot sink into the pillow, these pillows not only relieve the cervical vertebrae and simplify breathing.

Which pillow is suitable for back sleepers?

Back sleepers must definitely avoid pillows that are too high. As a rule, experts recommend a flat pillow that ensures that the sleeper can lie horizontally on the mattress. So-called neck support pillows can be a good idea for back sleepers. These pillows are provided with an ergonomic elevation in the lower area, which optimally supports the neck vertebrae.
For back sleepers, it is also important that the pillow does not reach below the shoulders. That is why a narrow pillow is generally recommended for them as well
