The 60 × 60 cm is the smaller of the two Zizzz squares, filled with 750 g of duck feathers and down. It gives you the surface of a square without taking the whole width of the bed, which is why it is common in France and Belgium.

The 60 × 60 cm pillow in duck feathers and down
The 60 × 60 cm is the smaller of the two Zizzz squares, filled with 750 g of duck feathers and down. It gives you the surface of a square without taking the whole width of the bed, which is why it is common in France and Belgium.
| Specification | Pillow 60 × 60 cm |
|---|---|
| Filling | 85 % duck feathers, 15 % duck down |
| Origin of the filling | feathers and down from European ducks |
| Casing | organic cotton cambric |
| Fill weight | 750 g |
| Dimensions | 60 × 60 cm |
| Made in | the Black Forest, Germany |
| Certification | organic cotton, DOWNPASS, NOMITE |
| Care | machine, delicate cycle, tumble dry on low |
With the same fill as the 50 × 70 cm spread over a square, the 60 × 60 cm feels slightly flatter but leaves more room to move your head around.
The casing is an organic cotton cambric: finely and tightly woven, it holds the filling in and at the same time forms a barrier against dust mites.
The six Zizzz sizes
| Size | Fill weight | Shape | Where it is the standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 × 60 cm | 550 g | the flattest in the range | children's beds across Europe |
| 40 × 80 cm | 750 g | narrow and long, takes little width | Germany and Austria, alongside the 80 × 80 |
| 50 × 70 cm | 750 g | the versatile rectangle | Scandinavia, the Netherlands and the UK |
| 60 × 60 cm (this size) | 750 g | a compact square | France and Belgium, as the smaller square |
| 65 × 65 cm | 880 g | a larger square | France |
| 80 × 80 cm | 1150 g | the largest surface in the range | Germany and Austria |
Filling, casing and certifications are the same in all six sizes: only the fill weight follows the dimensions. Which rectangle counts as the normal pillow is a matter of country rather than of comfort, so if you are buying from abroad, check which covers you already own before you choose.
Does this size suit how you sleep?
The height that suits you depends more on your sleeping position, the width of your shoulders and your mattress than on the size itself. Side sleepers generally need more height; on your front, a flatter pillow is usually more comfortable.
A square pillow leaves room to change position without hunting for the edge. At 750 g the 60 × 60 cm stays medium-height, which suits back and side sleepers.
Square or rectangular is mostly a question of your bed linen and your habits. All six sizes at a glance.
Feathers or down: what is the difference?
Feathers have a quill. They are stiffer, they spring back and they hold the pillow in shape — the support comes from them.
Down has no quill. It is lighter and softer and moulds around you — the softness comes from it. Every Zizzz pillow combines the two in the same proportion, 85 % feathers to 15 % down. The filling in detail is on the down pillows page.
DOWNPASS and NOMITE
DOWNPASS covers where the filling comes from: traceability from the farm to the finished product, no live plucking and no force feeding. Why traceability matters.
NOMITE indicates that the pillow is suitable for people with a house dust mite allergy, thanks to the tightly woven cambric. The label says nothing about other allergies and is not a substitute for medical advice. What that means day to day.
How to wash a 60 × 60 cm pillow
Day to day, shake the pillow out and air it regularly; a cover protects it from perspiration and wear.
For a full wash: machine on a delicate cycle with a mild detergent, then tumble dry on low — check the care label for the washing temperature. The filling has to be dry all the way through before you use the pillow again; a few clean dryer balls help it regain its volume. Which bedding to choose with a dust mite allergy is on the blog.
Frequently asked questions about the 60 × 60 cm pillow
What is the difference between 60 × 60 and 65 × 65 cm?
Five centimetres each side, and a little more filling: 750 g against 880 g. The 65 × 65 cm therefore builds up slightly higher; the 60 × 60 cm takes less room on a narrow bed.
Do I need a cover in exactly 60 × 60 cm?
Yes. A cover cut to size holds the pillow in shape: too large and the pillow slides around inside it, too small and it compresses the filling.
Which cover does a 60 × 60 cm pillow need?
A cover of the same size. The 60 × 60 cm pillowcases come in percale and in organic cotton satin.
What does the DOWNPASS certification guarantee?
Traceability of the filling from the farm to the finished product, and the exclusion of live plucking and force feeding.
Is this pillow suitable with a house dust mite allergy?
It carries the NOMITE label: the tightly woven organic cotton cambric keeps dust mites out. The label says nothing about other allergies and is not a substitute for medical advice.
Where is this pillow made?
In the Black Forest, in Germany. The filling is feathers and down from European ducks.
